All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go!!!
Making my way to the airport this pleasant September morning. Reading the lyrics to the song that inspired me to become a missionary. Careful reading it with an honest heart, it might do the same thing to you as it did to me.
The Christian Creed
To take that I might give,
To die that I might live;
Lift the weary from sorrow and woe;
To lose that I might gain;
To bear my brother's pain, For life is much more than we know.
It's my creed; I'm a Christian; I must follow.
Jesus, lead me where you want me to go;
To have that I might share, To live that I might dare,
For life is much more than we know.
To learn that I might teach, To grasp that I might reach
What lies just beyond the door;
To fall that I might rise; To see through blinded eyes
What none has seen before.
It's my creed; I'm a Christian; I must follow.
Jesus, lead me where you want me to go;
To have that I might share, To live that I might dare,
For life is much more than we know.
To me, it is my reasonable to service to my Savior to go.
My flight schedule today has me leaving from Nashville and going to Detroit, then connecting in Japan on the way to Manila on an 18 hour trip. I will stay there over night and then fly 1.5 hours to the capital city of Palawan, Puerta Princesa, where I will take a bus down the coast to Brooks Point (Danny Henson's home city) From Brooks Point I will say farewell to civilization by way of a truck to the head of the trail that will lead me upward in elevation and deeper inland. Anywhere from 3-6 hours of hiking and I will arrive at my home for the next year among the Palawano people. I've attached a map with a gold star labeled "AFM Palawan Project" approximately where my the village is. To learn more about the project: http://afmonline.org/missionaries/missionary.php?id=18
